“Increased awareness of the factors that contribute to health inequities for the LGBT population may provide insight into improving patient-provider relationships with LGBT patients. A large body of experiential and clinical knowledge positions nurses to conduct meaningful research to expand the current understanding of the social determinants of LGBT cancer health inequities.'“ (matthews, 2018)
Rainbow Health Consulting provides awareness and cultural education to health care providers on behalf of the LGBTQ+ community.
The objective of Rainbow Health Consulting’s programming is to increase provider knowledge surrounding the care of LGBTQ+ clients, and the accompanying vocabulary and definitions.
Additionally, we give healthcare providers the opportunity to engage in respectful dialogue and ask questions in a safe and professional environment.
Through education, we wish to ensure that future health care experiences will remain free from barriers for all LGBTQ+ patients, families, and employees alike.
Courses can be configured in several ways in order to meet the specific needs of your facility and providers.
Courses can be combined to provide an experience from one to six hours (full day) in length. Customization of programming to meet the needs of your facility is standard practice at Rainbow Health Consulting.
Courses are offered in both seminar and webinar formats. Seminars include a presentation and a short time for questioning.
We look forward to customizing the perfect program to suit your participants and facility.
“I recently had the pleasure of being in the audience for a presentation that Dr. Jan Kaminsky gave to a group I belong to.
Dr. Kaminsky provided this information with warmth and clarity that helped our clinicians to both understand and to integrate it into their practices going forward. Her down-to-earth and humorous approach made the content of her talk extremely accessible to the assembled health care providers. We all benefited from her expertise and relatability. ”
